I’ve never actually used buttermilk powder, so I’m not sure about that part. I will say that when I use actual buttermilk rather than some kind of substitute (I usually do a plain yogurt/milk mixture as my sub), they turn out better and thicker. Maybe try regular buttermilk next time?

Mine were runny and didn’t rise. I used buttermilk powder that was old but not that old. Oops didn’t wait long enough. They are doing ok now. Used slightly more flour to give thicker batter and some vanilla . Still pretty thin for pancake. Have to check the bs bp milk ,,.,,.ratio in the betty Crocker cookbook. Not bad…10 year old says awesome..but could be maple syrup and butter talking

Yes, I usually buy buttermilk. In my grocery store it is with the cream and half and half. You can freeze it if you don’t use it all, or use it to make biscuits, baked oatmeal, waffles, cupcakes, etc – there are so many uses 🙂
