Can I use more oats instead of the cereal?

I made some today like this (we’re vegan and my son has a peanut allergy) and they were delish!

2 1/2 cups Rice Krispies
2 cups oats (I use rolled oats and it works fine)
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2/3 cup peanut butter (I use crunchy but creamy is fine)
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chocolate chips
Melt honey, brown sugar and salt over medium low heat until boiling. Let boil 30-60 seconds. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and pb until smooth. Pour over cereal and oatmeal and stir until well mixed. Let cool for a few minutes, then stir in choc chips. Spread into a greased 9x13in pan and press down firmly. Let sit until cool, then cut into bars. I find a pizza cutter works great to cut them!

I’m trying to make these for a friend of mine that is Vegan. Any ideas of what to replace the butter with? This particular friend does eat honey even though it’s not Vegan. Let me know! Thanks!

I only buy rolled oats and I really want to make these, lol! Thanks

I love homemade granola bars. 🙂 So much better than storebought. And cheaper, too! I always have homemade bars on hand at my desk. They get me through the afternoon in the office!
