Coffee Ice Cream
Coffee Ice Cream has become a recent addiction of mine. Actually, coffee in general has become an addiction. 🙂 I can’t believe it took me this long to try to make a homemade version of this ice cream, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to become a staple around here. It’s actually really easy to make and only takes one extra step over traditional vanilla ice cream. To give this ice cream a nice strong coffee flavor, all you have to do is steep the coffee beans in the warm milk/cream mixture. Best of all, when making this homemade version, you can use your favorite coffee beans, adjust the sugar to your tastes, and even decide to whether to make it decaf or not! The end result is a sweet creamy treat that tastes just like my favorite morning beverage. 🙂
Coffee Ice Cream
Ingredients:
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- pinch of salt
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole coffee beans
Directions:
- In a medium sized saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, salt, and cream. Stir in the coffee beans.
- Heat on medium heat until mixture is quite warm, but not boiling.
- Remove from the heat, cover and let sit 1 hour.
- Strain through a fine mesh strainer and stir in the vanilla.
- Refrigerate for 4 hours, or up to overnight. Freeze according to your ice cream maker directions.
I need to dig my ice cream maker out from where ever I decided to store it this winter. Hmmm….

I’m game for anything with coffee in it.
Thank you for this recipe. I love coffee flavored ice cream! What a great way to use up whole coffee beans. My family has switched to instant coffee as their choice of morning brew.
